Neck pain results from the overuse of muscles and ligaments in the neck. There are many reasons this could occur, some of them being sports, increased amounts of exercise, lifting heavy items, sickness (flu or meningitis), or stress. Typically, neck pain is characterized by stiffness, severe pain in the neck, shoulders or upper back.
Depending on the severity of the neck pain, it can be treated with home remedies, over the counter medication, or sometimes may require prescript medication and even surgery.
